Review: DNBzone at Nedsat 19/11/2005
Ok. i am a bit late with this and havent really been active with updateing my blog lately but i am back on track :) SO tonight will come a major update.I had last weekend visit from Mahout (norway), who joined me for this event. Actually we got there pretty late as we because of a strange idea of mine first visited a former flatmate of mine .. she is quite strange and they went, not as actually agreed on, to another bar instead of Nedsat that night. So we joined em there but i didnt felt like going there so we left and headded around 1 oclock to Nedsat. I cant really say that there were many people but the music was good.. Don Skeleton played some jungle tracks. Pretty nice.. but as mentioned, it wasnt really packed.. on the other side, we can be glad for that as the venue is very small and in my opinion not made for these kind of events. The bass is not really available (i guess cos its in the middle of the center town and the neighbours wouldnt be so happy about that) and the dancefloor is just waaaaaay too small. Normally this is a bar with included Record shop - which is a great idea i think. As that it is also very good.. but just not more.. its simply not a club and the fact that the people are also standing on the dancefloor and its totally shiny bright, makes it maybe attractive for House parties but not Drum and Bass events (or in that sense, anykind of non-pop-music). Although i must admit that the dancefloor is really good and nice to dance on it.. its wooden tree and it gives flexibility.. so you can hop and everything.. so that is really good. But this evening, 10 people on the dancefloor, 4-5 dancing.. the rest standing around.. also a MC on the dancefloor.. so it was filled up. Then around the dancefloor is the DJ desk and the bar (one side) and then you have some seats higher up.. but in the front area (the "club" part is on the back of the pub) hosted almost nobody that evening.. you can hear the music also there.. but .. i guess it wasnt attratcting if nobody inside was visible. It got more crowded later on.. i think between 2 and 3 .. which was fine. Also met Tim Driver from OHOI-crew who i had a little chat with.. he is a very nice guy.. as my impression of all the OHOI members are actually. Oh btw. i were thursday night out as the were DJing at the culture box .. in the matter of fact, it was a disastur :) nobody went there.. maybe 15 people in total. Never seen that venue so empty.. but i think its because of the bad weather and they didnt really made announcement for it.. the music was very nice and they had the chance to experiment, but it was just not so nice without people and it was even cold inside that beton bunker. Left quit early again.. but because of work next day, otherwise i would have stayed longer i guess. Anyways..i had a nice but short chat there with DJ 2000F too. Seems like they know me soon.. i wonder from why :-D
Okay.. Tim has no chance not to know me.. at the Stengade party i almost hopped on him in excitement of the evening.. poor him! Hahahaha :) i was sweaty all over.. but he was kind and said its ok (what else should he have said anyways?).
Ehh.. back on topic. So the Nedsat party was nice as soon as soulmatic played some of his own stuff which was really nice i must admit! I think this guy is worht to keep an eye on.. also talked to DJ Drop aka Jeppe, who again excused for talking english for me the last time :) I was bit amused by his dialekt but he is a very friendly guy and actually i should drop (haha!) him a mail.
After soulmatic, DJ Drop put some records on and then got support from an MC.. i was amazed! This guy (the MC) was sooo good. I didnt knew we had so talented MCs in town. Hey, where was this guy before? Why didnt anybody discoverd him before? Where is him from? WHO is he? As i remember from Jeppe, he mentioned something with MC Fanatik or Frantic or something similar sounding to this. I hope to see/hear him again at some point. About Jeppe aka DJ Drop, he is doing better and better as a DJ! I remember in the starting of his DJing he had a nice selection but he was really not able to do the mixing part.. now he seems to be more comfortable with is and doing scratches and rewinds and the mixing is just in a flow. So this guy is getting really good :) Good boy ay?
As Daniel (Mahout) got tired and anyways was bit besides him, also exicted about coming back home to Norway again the next day, we left around 3 oclock. Early i must say but it was okay with me.. i had my little stepdance of the day and was also bit tired.
In the meantime, dnbzone has the pictures online from the Nedsat party from 19-11-2005
So.. tonight, saturday 26/11-2005 is the next thing with DJ Drop. Pilot Music having a release party, but i wont attend as i am invited for a birthday today. Pity thou..
